We Just Got Lucky On COVID-19 Mortalities – By Segun Showunmi
It’s down to the genome sequence of the virus and the interplay of many other variables.
We were right to be scared at first, as such, we ran with whatever we got from others who were undergoing the challenges that were in view. Our issue is that we hardly trust ourselves, nor do we invest in the research that would eliminate our fears. Instead, we take the easy flight and just do haphazardly whatever we are told, especially if we can cleverly use state resources as we wish without consequence.
Nature understands how vulnerable we are, and as such, it does most of the work for us to our good luck.
Had we been confronted with the situation in those countries would we even cope?
One cannot entirely blame the occupiers of offices for what did they really have to work with, across board from federal down to states and local governments.
Surely they could individually have done better, and some have done better than others. The real issue is what next? We have observed that viruses are mutating at a rather alarmingly rate. Therefore we must shape up and retool ourselves for the potentiality of Armageddon by our invincible co-habitants of the planet.
This virus could have been airborne, and it could have also meant once you get it, then it’s sure death, and it could also be very very contagious, how would we prepare?
When the entire world is facing a pandemic, nations can’t be waiting on other nations for everything.
No, that’s not how to contribute to the survival of the human race. Look around and allow your minds to wander about, and you will see that we are just fooling ourselves. We are not getting anything done neither have we done anything to have been spared. It has only been unmerited favour.
Luck is good, but preparedness is always the nobler route to nation-building.
Ogun can do so much better, we have it within our genes, and therefore we must strive to be the leading light.
