Breaking News: Saudi Arabia Confirms Shawwal Crescent Sighting, Eid el-Fitr to be Celebrated on March 30

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially announced the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal. Consequently, Eid el-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The confirmation was made via Haramin’s official Facebook page, a recognized platform for the global Muslim community. The statement read: “The crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1446 was sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid el Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025.”

Eid el-Fitr, a significant festival in Islam, marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide. The celebration typically begins with special prayers at mosques, followed by communal gatherings, feasting, and acts of charity.

Saudi Arabia’s announcement is particularly influential as many Muslim communities around the world look to the country for moon sighting confirmations to determine their own Eid celebrations.

As preparations for the festivities begin, Muslims across the globe are expected to engage in last-minute shopping, charity distributions, and planning for the joyous occasion.
