Abeokuta South Local Government to Construct 50 Open Stalls at Asero Motor Park
The Chairman Transition Committee, Abeokuta South Local Government and his committee have declared their readiness today to construct 50 open stalls market at Asero motor park for the traders in the area so as to avoid displaying their merchandise or goods by the roadsides
Hon. Shomide described the intention which centred on the objective of discouraging the street trading market purposely to give way to vehicular movements and the passers-by at Adatan via Asero and to ensure the safety of lives of the merchants.
He pressed further that the foundation laying of open stalls are part of the dividends of democracy, that people at the grassroots should benefit from; most especially in Abeokuta South Local Government while urging the intending beneficiaries that when completed they should judiciously make use of the open stalls.
Council boss however, stressed that when it is time for the subletion of the open stalls, it would not be affiliated to a political influence, that the rents of the the open shops in the community shall be given accordingly.
He therefore made it known that the project is identified through the community which base on requests, affirmed that the project is not political, it is for the usage of good people in Abeokuta South Local Government areas.
The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Dr. Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo Okukenu iv who was ably represented by Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland, Chief Lai Labode expressed delight of the Kabiesi for the landmark of the project that such development is taking place in Egbaland also used the medium to congratulate His Excellency in advance, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, for his birthday and first Anniversary of his governance in Ogun State.
Laying the foundation of the 50 open stalls, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Morufu Afuape appreciated the laudable project, posited that it is part of dividends of democracy in which electorates are expecting from the government and people in the position of leaderships, promised that the open shops shall be completed and commissioned in the next two weeks.
Present at the laudable event are: vice chairman of the local government, Hon. Samod Olanrewaju, secretary to the local government, Alhaji Nurudeen Ayorinde, supervisor for Primary Health Care, Mrs. Iyabode Adebambo and supervisor for Information, Education, Sports & Agricultural Services, Hon. Wale Bakare. Also present are Alhaji Farouk Akintunde; APC Chieftain, chairman Road Transport Employer Association Asero branch; Alhaji Daodu Olomowewe, chairman National Union of Road Transport Workers Asero branch; Alhaji AbdulRasak Akiode and other well wishers also graced the event.
