PDP PICK ALHAJA DR. LATEEFAT OYEYEMI SOWUNMI KOLAPO AS DEPUTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE FOR OGUN STATE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun Central Senatorial District, has unanimously presented and endorsed Alhaja Dr. Lateefat Oyeyemi Sowunmi Kolapo, PhD, the revered Iya Sunnah of Egbaland and the First Ameerah General of Ogun State, as its preferred candidate for the position of Deputy Governor of Ogun State ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.

The historic presentation took place in the presence of members of the Ogun State PDP Executive Committee, leaders of the party across the state, and executives of the Ogun Central Senatorial District, who gathered to affirm their confidence in her sterling leadership qualities, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service.

Speaking at the gathering, party stakeholders described Alhaja Dr. Sowunmi Kolapo as a woman of exceptional character, proven competence, and remarkable achievements whose contributions to community development, women empowerment, education, and religious harmony have earned her widespread respect across Ogun State and beyond.

The Senatorial District executives noted that her emergence reflects the collective aspiration of party faithful for a government that is inclusive, progressive, and responsive to the needs of the people. They emphasized that her vast experience, intellectual capacity, and grassroots appeal make her an ideal choice to help drive the vision of a people-oriented administration in Ogun State.

Responding to her endorsement, Alhaja Dr. Lateefat Oyeyemi Sowunmi Kolapo expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and members of the party for the confidence reposed in her.

"I am deeply honoured and sincerely grateful to the leadership and members of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, for this overwhelming vote of confidence. I accept this responsibility with humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of Ogun State and the success of our party."

Reflecting on the outcome of the last governorship election in Ogun State, she stated:

"The people of Ogun State made their voices heard during the last governorship election, and we remain convinced that the PDP enjoyed the mandate and overwhelming support of the electorate. While circumstances denied the people the outcome they desired, we remain resolute, focused, and determined."

Expressing optimism ahead of the 2027 elections, she declared:

"I have absolute confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party will emerge victorious in 2027. The people of Ogun State are yearning for a government that truly understands their struggles, prioritizes their welfare, and delivers meaningful development. The PDP remains that credible alternative."

She assured party faithful and residents of Ogun State that a PDP-led administration would usher in a new era of prosperity and purposeful governance.

"I want to assure all party faithful and the good people of Ogun State that come 2027, our state will witness greatness like never before and enjoy the true dividends of democracy. We shall pursue policies that empower our youths, support women, improve infrastructure, strengthen education, create economic opportunities, and ensure that governance serves the interests of the people."

Calling for unity among party members and supporters, she added:

"This is the time for unity, commitment, and collective action. Together, we shall work tirelessly to reclaim Ogun State and build a future of hope, prosperity, and sustainable development for all."
