IGP Orders Nationwide Seizure Of Vehicles Without Number Plates
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed police units across Nigeria to begin a nationwide operation targeting vehicles that are being driven without registration numbers or with plates that are hidden, damaged, or altered.
He said such vehicles will now be stopped and taken away as part of efforts to improve security in the country.
The directive was announced on Tuesday, with the police chief stating that security agencies have noticed an increase in the number of vehicles on roads without proper identification.
Disu explained that vehicle registration is not just for records but also plays a key role in fighting crime and supporting security work.
