CAN THE 49 YEAR OLD JINX OF OGUN WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT NOT PRODUCING GOVERNOR BE BROKEN IN 2027 ?

Rockcity FM's "Citizens Forum" of the Daybreak Show this Wednesday x-rayed the issue of Ogun West Senatorial District not producing a Governor since the state was created in 1976 and the current status of the political gladiators from the District. It was a "Double Dee" edition as I co-anchored with my brother, Dare Adedotun.

We had two resource persons, a journalist and Editor, Platform Times, Daud Olatunji and the Coordinator of Ogun West Initiative, Bolaji Adeniji.

Daud said some politicians from the District were already jostling for the ticket on various sectors including religious, traditional, education, stomach infrastructure, roads and electricity with one prominent personality enjoying Top of Mind Awareness (TOMA).

He enjoined leaders from the District to emulate the time-tested conflict resolution strategies of Awujale of Ijebuland adding that the District should endeavour to build consensus and present just one candidate for the 2027 Gubernatorial election to brighten its chances.

Contributing, Bolaji said unlike the past, the District currently has a candidate of means that is not sponsored by any godfather from the other two competing districts of Central and East.

Public opinion in Ogun State favours a Governor from Ogun West Senatorial District for the sake of equity, fair play and justice. However,  a cross section of callers asked politicians from the District to be circumspect and cautious so as not to miss this current chance. Many names were mentioned but traditional and political leaders were urged to settle the aspirations amicably in a win-win manner that the group objective would be achieved and nobody would play a spoiler role!

Conclusively, everyone unanimously agrees that the incumbent President holds all the aces in picking who gets the nod.

Indeed, interesting days are ahead and it behoves all to read the political situation correctly!
