New Political Coalition Emerges as All Democratic Alliance (ADA) Applies for INEC Registration
A new political front known as the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) has officially emerged, uniting key figures from Nigeria’s political landscape as part of a broader coalition seeking to challenge the dominance of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as a political party. According to documents submitted and acknowledged on June 20, 2025, the coalition included the party’s proposed name, logo, slogan (Justice for All), constitution, and manifesto.
Among the driving forces behind ADA are former Senate President David Mark, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and Dr. Umar Ardo.
Also prominently involved in the formation are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El Rufai, who are key figures in the National Opposition Coalition Group which has been in talks for months over forming a credible third force platform.
Initially, the group considered merging with existing parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or Social Democratic Party (SDP) but a committee led by Amaechi recommended building a new platform from scratch to allow equal footing for all stakeholders.
David Mark is currently positioned as the interim chairman of the emerging political movement.
One source close to the coalition said, “This is a bold step. We want a new foundation, not a recycled structure. ADA is about fresh leadership, justice, and inclusive governance.”
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the ADA aims to present itself as a serious alternative to both the APC and PDP especially among Nigerians seeking a shift from the current political status quo.
INEC has yet to officially respond to the registration request though ADA’s emergence has already stirred political debate nationwide.
