EGBA ECONOMIC SUMMIT GROUP HOLDS 11TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING IN ABEOKUTA ON 21ST DECEMBER, 2024.



Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital witnessed a robust gathering of intellectuals and think tank Egbas on 21st December, 2024 at the 11th AGM of the summit held at the Conference Room of Gbenga Adeoye & Co.( Chartered Accountants), 80 First Avenue, Ibara GRA, Abeokuta


Presiding over the AGM, the Chairman of the Board, Chief Taiwo Adeoluwa; Agba Akin of Egbaland admonished members of EES to continue to relate as siblings.

In his remarks, he noted that once Egbas are united; the issues of contribution of resources will flow easily and naturally.

The President  of the Summit Mr Yinka Chris Coker stated that the coming year will be approached in a different way in terms of projects implementation which will now be in accordance with the Report of Captain Temi Okesanjo led project implementation  committee.



The former Chairman of the Board,  Prince Abiodun Karunwi encouraged members to contribute their resources for the growth of the  summit while he frowned at the attitude of those who have resources but fail to pay annual dues.

Chief Tokunbo Odebunmi who is a past president also encouraged members to continue to act as drag net to bring new and old members back to the summit with renewed commitment.



Chief Shina Luwoye who happens to be the immediate past president joined the AGM virtually and challenged members to be strategic in the development of Egbaland.

Alhaji Egbeyemi who usually speaks in proverbs said if anyone is running and unable to catch a snail; then his case need re-examination and admonished members to increase their speed in terms of personal developmental projects that others could support in the year 2025.



Chief Tunji Sunmonu who joined virtually also reminded members that the way to succeed is to go back to the foundation of the summit and ensure that all programmes aligns with the main goals of setting up the summit at a time when Mr Ade Coker was the President.

Engineer Ola Sobande who also joined virtually expressed gratitude to the Vice President; Dr. Gbenga Adeoye for making  his office space available for the summit to use as secretariat and also for the AGM and at the same time insisted that the council must ensure new members are attracted in the year 2025. Mr Surakat Lateef who  also  joined the AGM  virtually aligns with the new project implementation method of 2025.

His position was supported by Chief Taiwo Adeoluwa who stated further that he submitted some names to be admitted and that more efforts should be made to get those parties admitted.

Reacting to the creation of Ijebu State that has passed second reading in the Senate, The Vice President; Dr.Gbenga Adeoye stated that such development underscore the determination of the Remo and Ijebus to have their own state and it is not in anyway against the progress of Egbaland and Ogun State as it stands today but will foster development in Egbaland and Ijebu land as well.

He stated further that the Erunwon Ajebo Free Trade Zone project should be pursued with all the energy in the Egbas while the University of Medicine and Medical Science should be supported by all means to ensure the smooth take off in 2025 now that Council and principal  officers of the University are almost in place.

The meeting ended at  about 3pm after starting at about 12 30pm with Egba Economic Summit Anthem and Egba Anthem.

Opening prayer was led by Alhaji Saheed Egbeyemi and closing prayer was led by Engr.Ola Sobande.

The meeting ended with a committee on Strategic Repositioning of Egbaland and members are :

1.Captain Temilola Okesanjo

2.Chief Tokunbo Odebunmi.

3.Dr.Kehinde Sogunle.

4. Dr Gbenga Adeoye.

5. Chief Shina Luwoye.


Mr Ayo Biobaku sent his apology through Engr.Tokunbo Odebunmi with a promise to be available in 2025 for the summit programmes.

Most members who annual dues paid immediately while some paid for 2025 in advance.

Dr Gbenga Adeoye advised the Secretariat to encourage members through  pleasant regular reminders as most members could be very busy in their day to day business endeavours and not because they don't want to pay 

At the AGM, external auditors,  Jubril Olawale & Co.( Chartered Accountants) presented the financial Statement for the year ended 31st October, 2024 and it was resolved that all meetings will henceforth be sponsored by hosts so as to avoid touching the summit money for meeting expenses.

2024 AGM is hereby declared hosted by the Vice President; Dr. Gbenga Adeoye and he must liquidate all  associated expenses.

Next AGM to be hosted by Engr.Odebunmi and Mr Ayo Biobaku.

All other excos and general meetings will be hosted by members..Alhaji Saheed  Egbeyemi will host January to March meetings.

Engineer Odebunmi will host April to June meetings.

The administrative secretary Ololade Oseni was on ground to cross the t's and dot the i's of agenda and all reports for consideration at the meeting and performed as the back bone of EES secretariat throughout the meeting.

Olumo Egba Agbe wa sowo, Olumo, Egba agbewa somo, Ilu egba agbe wa oo...was the EES Anthem sang along with Egba Anthem.
