WE HAVE A HISTORY OF SUPPORTING THE NIGERIAN POLICE,--- PCRC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN.
The National Chairman Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan has said that in the PCRC which he is the National Chairman today, we have a history of supporting the Nigerian Police to grow security challenges in Nigeria.
Alhaji Olaniyan said he did it while he was the Chairman of PCRC in Ogun State and replicated it while he was the Chairman geopolitical zone and we are achieving the same feat at the National level. The number one ingredient of a PCRC member is to see something and say something, it goes a long way. The criminals are living amongst us in our environment. Even if they are strangers, the people in the community need to use what they notice to fight crime to the bearest minimum in order to make the work easier for Police and other security agencies.
Police and other security agencies are not angel to know everything at a time and be everywhere, however they are working towards that. For instance, criminals are children's of nonchalant parents; the so called yahoo boys are also children of nonchalant parenting. If parents caught their children doing something wrong and they know it is beyond their control, they should report to the Police.
In Ogun State for instance, when we had our new CP, he went back to the drawing board. Because in Ogun State, we have people like Rtd. DIG Ali, Rtd. DIG iliazu whose their style of policing was like that of a father and not wholly like a Police.
This is what we should be doing, if we arrest cultists, debrief and counsel them, then help then to renounce cultism and return them to their family because these people believe that sending a cultist to prison will enhance them to graduate to become armed robbers and kidnappers.
He Said Correctional centres are zero. If he has his way, he will advise we go by Shari'a law. Shari'a says if you steal, the latest is 24 hours, but Shari'a says we should cut your hand and you will go. Correctional centres now are universities for criminals.
The security situation of this country, as far as we are concerned in the PCRC, we are calling for the support of the citizens of this country to supply security agencies with information.
"As part of our efforts, my predecessor, Ambassador Farouk Abdullahi, PhD introduce women and youths PCRC because we don't want a situation where we will rely on older people alone. The PCRC now engaged youths and women directly. We have a structure now National Youths Committee of PCRC and Women Committee of PCRC. We are now out there professional women marketers and farmers, we have them all in the PCRC", Said Alhaji Olaniyan.
He further said that PCRC is looking at how to further complement the efforts of the Nigerian Police on traffic issues. We are also working on a programme which the IGP want to launch, "Silver Spoon Project" and we are planning to key into that. Very soon you will see our members around schools with other authority to work with all schools in their vicinity. We are trying to eliminate out of school children roaming about during the school hours. You will see our men and women helping to control traffic for the students to cross and use the road with danger. We are also working on how to stop inter-school fights, very soon you will see improvement in the community in the tables of the PCRC.
Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan is the immediate past National Vice Chairman of Southwest before then, he was the Ogun State Chairman of PCRC, former Deputy Chairman PCRC Ogun State, before then he was PRO PCRC Ogun State and Zone 2. Presently by the special grace of Allah, he was the PCRC National Chairman.
He is also the CEO Asiwaju group of investment likewise the Babalaje Adini of Gbagura Muslims amongst other chieftaincy titles.
