RATTAWU Organized Free Eye Screening To Ogun Residence.

 Hundreds of residents of Abeokuta, Ogun state have benefited from  free eye Screening and test with Subzidies eye glasses and drugs to reduce the risk of eye problem including glacoma and other related problems.


The  Eye screening  which was held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta, was put together by the  Ogun State Council  of the Radio, Television, theatre and Arts workers ,Union, RATTAWU in conjunction with Vision Spring, USA and in Partnership with Eye health support system in Nigeria.


An Optometrist, Dr Kingsley Egwe,  who lead the Vision Spring team, said the essence of the exercise was to create an awareness for people on the importance of checking their eye statues regularly to avoid any eye-related issues that might degenerate to  partial or total blindness if neglected .


Dr Egwe who attributed old age, change of life styles, environment and long use of Screen without screen protector as part of causes of eye problems, urged people to prioritize their eye care at all times.


Representative of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Midian Nanle, encouraged other unions in the State to emulate the initiative of the RATTAWU to prioritize health care of their members.


The  State Chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Idowu Rotimi who appreciated the partners for their gesture and opportunity, explained that the screening exercise was part of the contributions of the body to the society.


Beneficiaries including,The acting General Manager, NTA Mr Kehinde Onoda commended the State RATTAWU and other partners for the laudable initiaves, for  subsidizing the cost for glasses and drugs especially as the country is faced with economy hardship.
