INVEST MORE IN SPORTS, TOYIN AMUZU URGES AS HE BAGS KAAF FOOTBALL AWARD.

Government at all tiers and private organisations in the Country, have been called upon to pay special attention to sports and invest heavily in sporting activities, especially the game of football, to boost the Nation's economy and engage the Youth.

A sports enthusiast, Chief Toyin Amuzu gave this advice in Sagamu, while being honoured with the distinguished award for football excellence at the finals of the fourth edition of the under 17 female and the eight edition of the under 18 male annual Sir Kessington Adebukola Adebutu Football, KAAF competition.

Organised by the Ogun State Football Association in conjunction with the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, the award presented to Chief Toyin Amuzu by the Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Idowu Basibo, was in recognition of his exemplary dedication and Contributions to the development of grassroot sports in Ogun State .

Chief Toyin Amuzu, who thanked Chief Kessington Adebutu for sponsorship of the football tournament , said this is a good way to encourage and develop the youth of our nation.

He said, such sporting activities would not only engage the youth positively, but reduce their involvement in social vices and as well boost the economy of the Nation.

Chief Amuzu, who decried the rate at which the nation's youth migrate to other countries in search of green pastures, said this is due to government's failure in managing and nurturing them through various quality youth development programmes and policies.

According to him, "our youths are the Nation's assets and we must invest in them by engaging them in sporting activities. If well managed, such youth would go internationally as Nigerians and not take up citizenship of another country since opportunities abound here. This will boost and enhance Nigeria's economy tremendously," he said.

Chief Kessington Adebutu, who was represented by his son, Chief Oladipupo Adebutu, said the KAAF competition was an avenue to identify budding talents who can be further developed to greater heights.

He said the competition was the 2020 edition which could not take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, saying the 2021 edition will still take place this year.

The Lisa Aje Egba, said the Adebutu family would not relent in it's efforts to promote sports and support the youth, noting that the event was also marking this year's international day of the Youth.

The Under 18 male youth KAAF final was won by the Ijebu North Local Government while the under 17 female youth KAAF final was won by Ado-Odo Ota Local Government, with both teams given cash awards.
