Ink on Paper 5: Not Another Docile President, If Election Will Ever Hold

I know we are at a critical moment in this country, just yesterday, Monday 26, 2021, it was alleged that Mr Sunday Igboho's was invaded by the military, even though we heard media outburst by one Olayomi Koiki, even though we heard gunshots at the background, we have no visual of the occurrence, and we are yet to read from the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Army about the allegation.

The whole atmosphere is tensed, from the South-East to South-South, North-East and South-West the rhythm is not in any way different, it seems some people somewhere are delighted to see our nation go up in flames, they are eager to use social media to ignite the inferno of war, not minding what will become of the labour of our past heroes.

Now to the main issue, all these happenings are pointers to the fact that the country is not in any way ready for election in 2023 or after, could it be that there are few individuals who are of the opinion that the peace of this country is less important to their aspirations to either hold on to power either as the President, would-be- President, Godfathers or beneficiaries of the political enterprise.

Let us assume that election will hold in 2023, who will be the poster face of the main political parties in the country, will it be a replica of the present predicament, will it be a docile figure in his or her early 70s or 90s, will it be someone who has always been profiting from politics, will it be the handlers of this present administration or those who brought this evil upon us, as much as I want to ignore this reality, may I ask the youths if they are ready to travel same path, same path of economic woes, same path of mass unemployment, same path of needless bloodbath, same path of insecurity, same path of kidnapping and abuse and violation of human rights.

Are we really ready to travel the same path of unlawful invasion of privacy, lack of freedom of information, humiliation and oppression of the press.

We have not done anything to check the inefficiency of our electoral umpires, we have neglected to look into what constitutes our electoral acts, we have not tried to check the activities of our institutions responsible for the whole electioneering process, we have not properly investigated previous electoral frauds and how to prevent it in the future, now the evil genius are throwing their un-godly ambition at us without refrain, some poverty ridden individuals are already on the train because of crumbs.

If we are really preparing for elections, who are the possible candidates, are we going to allow some self-made cabals impose their selfish desires on us, are we going to allow some weaklings whose proximity to the seat of power has bestowed on them undeserving prestige.

I know we are still enjoying the best of President Buhari led administration, I hope we enjoy it while it last, now that there are no honest men in the land, now that there are no sane individuals to serve as conscience of the masses, now that the main interest is to be in charge or be closer to those in charge, we may as well conclude that opposition parties are toothless bulldogs.

It has become too much in Nigeria to ask for security, people are being matcheted, gunned down every second, one Governor in South-west was asking for more passport office in his state, many times, I ask if he is aware of the responsibilities that come with being a Governor, I have not stopped asking if those who brought us unprepared elements are not aware of their inefficiencies, or they deliberately plagued us with these contagious leaders.

It is expedient to say that the present Governors can be categorized into three main groups: Yahoo Governor, Ceremonial or Action Governor, you can pick which Governor is representing you, action Governors are the ones speaking out, calling on Mr President to wake up from his slumber, the Yahoo Governors are those tinting their hair, from black to gold, gold to cream, they went as far as tinting their beards, while ceremonial Governors run to Abuja at the slightest opportunity to share money, they are interested in taking photographs with the President not minding if the entire state is wiped off. 

Let me state that a Governor can be Yahoo and Ceremonial combined, if that is the situation in your state, that is a great disaster.

In Conclusion, as much as I do not like to admit that war is imminent in this country, it just the obvious truth that one must register, we have entered into this one chance, we have been contaminated with the docility of these docile leaders, we must endeavour to guard against the repeat of this unholy docility, we must not repeat the mistake of voting for a half dead individual, those parading themselves for the 2023 elections are not only physically dead, all of them are brain and mentally dead, even those pushing their agenda are not in any way better, a word is enough for the wise, kick out docility and let agility prevails.
