Eid el-Maulud: ABS Enjoins Muslims to Use the Occasion to Reflect on the Myriad of Challenges Confronting Our Nation.

    Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu (ABS)

The Assistant General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu has said that Eid el-Maulud is generally not a time for merrymaking but a period for sober reflection and pious devotion.

He therefore enjoined Muslim faithfuls to use the occasion to reflect deeply on the myriad of challenges confronting our nation; retrace our steps, renew our faith and imbibe the true meaning of piety, sacrifice, patience and fellowship.

Apostle Sanyaolu in a Statement signed and released from his Media Office in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital said Muslims and indeed the entire citizenry irrespective of faith or creed should use the occasion to settle our differences and shun negative acts that have continued to threaten our peace and unity as a nation.

The celebration of Eid-El-Maulud is a very special day in the Islamic Calendar as it commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad by whose divine sovereignty the Islamic Religion came to be. This day is celebrated in Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month of the Islamic Calendar.

He concluded the Statement by saying “The world today is still under lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic while Nigeria is witnessing EndSARS protest in addition. The signs are imminent that we need to emulate the lives of great religious leaders whose lives centre around piety, sacrifice and brotherhood of man",
