OGUN 2027: IPAC CALLS FOR PEACEFUL CAMPAIGNS, URGES YOUTH TO BRACE UP FOR 2027 ELECTIONS

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ogun State has called on political parties and their supporters to embrace peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections, while urging Nigerian youths to shun violence and prepare to play a constructive role in ensuring fair and transparent elections.

Chairman of Ogun State IPAC, Comrade Dr. Abayomi Sanyaolu, stated this on Monday while featuring on the interview programme, Voice of the Patriots, on Zents 90.9 FM, Abeokuta. 

He said the Council has remained committed to promoting peaceful political engagement and protecting the democratic process in the state.

Sanyaolu recalled that IPAC worked assiduously in early 2026 to ensure that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reversed its move to deregister some political parties, stressing that the council believed every political party that met the legal requirements should be given the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.

He noted that IPAC would not fold its arms and watch politicians turn Ogun State into a battleground, warning political parties and their supporters against actions capable of threatening the peace and security of the state.

“We have forewarned the political parties that anybody or any party that causes chaos in the state will be charged to court. We will not fold our arms and allow politicians to turn Ogun State into a battleground because of elections”, he noted.

The Ogun IPAC boss also urged Nigerians to keep their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, jealously and make use of them by coming out in large numbers to vote during the 2027 elections, saying active participation remained one of the most effective ways citizens could determine who governs them.

Sanyaolu, however, charged the youth to reject violence, thuggery and hooliganism, urging them instead to brace up for the 2027 elections and become advocates for peaceful, fair and transparent electoral processes.

“Our youths should not allow politicians to use them for violence. They should reject thuggery and hooliganism and brace up to become advocates of fair and transparent elections. The today, not the future, of Nigeria belongs to them, and they must protect the democratic process”, he concluded.
