SERAP Drags INEC to Court Over Alleged Diversion of #800 Billion, Says Nigerians Deserve Transparent Elections

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken INEC and the Accountant-General to court over the alleged diversion of ₦800 Billion from FAAC funds. The money meant for roads, hospitals, schools, and security is allegedly being used for political campaigns ahead of 2027.

This is not a small matter. ₦800 billion is enough to change the lives of millions of Nigerians yet it may have been siphoned to oil the machinery of power.

Critical Questions This Raises:

If INEC (the supposed independent umpire) is involved or unable to stop this, does it mean the electoral body is compromised and working for the ruling party?

How can we trust the 2027 elections if public funds are being weaponised against the opposition?

Is this the real reason why incumbency always feels unbeatable?

INEC must come clean. Nigerians deserve transparent elections, not a predetermined outcome funded by our own money.

Is INEC truly independent or just an extension of the ruling party?

Should this ₦800bn scandal lead to a full investigation and sackings?
