Oyo State House of Assembly Clarifies Position on Council of Obas and Chiefs Chairmanship

Statement from the Oyo State House of Assembly

The attention of the Oyo State House of Assembly has been drawn to a publication going viral on social media, where the Alaafin of Oyo, Ikubaba Yeye, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem OwoadeElewu Etu II, was positioned as the permanent chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

We are here to correct this misleading information. The Oyo State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin, did not affirm the authority of the Alaafin as the sole permanent chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

Rather, the House approved a 2years rotational chairmanship arrangement between the Alaafin of Oyo, Olubadan of Ibadan, and Soun of Ogbomosho.

We, the Oyo State House of Assembly, issue this warning to caution the general public about this misinformation.

There was no approval by the House for the Alaafin to be the sole permanent chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

Signed

Oyo State House of Assembly

Copied...

My submission... I saw some commenters who said bàbá Ọọ̀nirìṣà was behind the rotational of chairmanship of traditional rulers in Ọ̀yọ́ state. But from what we learnt was that it was the initiative of Alaafin àná against Ọọ̀nirìṣà Sijuade Olubuse II which led to the creation of Ọ̀ṣun state. Bàbá Alaafin àná initiated it and it was the letter that he wrote to the house of assembly that was used by the house members.

Why the new Alaafin Owoade should think beyond today in his decision and think of the consequences in the nearest future. IRE OOOOO!!
