Alake, Obadara, Odebunmis Felicitate With Gbenga Adeoye At New Year Celebration.

Prominent traditional rulers, political leaders, professionals and dignitaries on Wednesday, January 1, 2026, gathered at the residence of Dr. Gbenga Adeoye and his wife, Mrs. Kemi Adeoye, to celebrate the New Year and offer thanksgiving to God.

The annual New Year Day gathering, which has become a tradition for the Adeoye family, featured worship, prayers, music, dancing and testimonies.


The 2026 edition was particularly significant as it marked the first New Year celebration since Dr. Adeoye emerged as President of the Egba Economic Summit for a two-year tenure



The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, while addressing guests, charged Nigerians to take inspiration from Psalm 126.


He expressed optimism that 2026 would usher in renewed peace and security across the country, stating that Nigerians would once again be able to travel freely without fear.


The monarch noted that ongoing efforts by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies, in collaboration with international partners including the United States, would restore safety and stability, adding that Nigeria would experience joy and renewed hope.


Guest preacher, Pastor Funmi Kushimo of Alleluia Christian Chapel, encouraged attendees to draw closer to God in 2026, describing the year as one filled with divine opportunities and blessings.


In a moving testimony, Pastor Paul Adeniyi Daniel, Founder and General Overseer of Alleluia Christian Chapel, thanked God for restoring his health after a life-threatening illness in July 2025.


Former Senator Gbenga Obadara, who arrived early at the event, described the January 1 gathering as a yearly obligation for him and prayed for continued strength and grace for Dr. Adeoye to sustain the tradition.


Among the dignitaries present were Dr. Tokunbo Gbadebo, Olori of the Alake of Egbaland; former President of the Egba Economic Summit, Mr. Yinka Chris Coker; Prof. Odebunmi; Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi; Mrs. Jokotade Odebunmi and family; Mrs. W.M. Soleye, widow of former Minister of Finance, Dr. Onaolapo Soleye; and several senior professionals from the oil and gas, legal, medical and accounting sectors.


Also in attendance were alumni of the Nigerian Law School (Lagos Campus), members of the Elyon College & Leadership Academy Alumni Association, staff of Gbenga Adeoye & Co. (Chartered Accountants), Global Legal Partners, Rejoice Supermart, and members of Alleluia Christian Chapel.


Entertainment was provided by gospel artists Bukky Emmanuel, Titi Esan and her team, whose performances kept guests singing and dancing for hours, while others engaged in recreational activities such as table tennis.


The Adeoye family also showcased creatively designed Adire fabrics as part of efforts to promote Egba cultural heritage and the local Adire industry.


In their closing remarks, Dr. and Mrs. Adeoye expressed gratitude to all guests for their presence, describing the gathering as a symbol of love, unity and fellowship. They promised an even bigger celebration in 2027
