Showunmi Restates Nigeria's Commitment Towards United Africa
The Alternative Movement, a pan-Nigeria political organization committed to African unity, peace, and democratic cooperation, extends its sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Burkina Faso, and to the Armed Forces under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, for the release of the Nigerian military aircraft and the eleven Nigerian soldiers.
We also acknowledge the strategic restraint, diplomatic brinkmanship, and statesmanship demonstrated by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) whose commitment to dialogue over escalation created the necessary space for a peaceful and dignified resolution. This approach underscores the importance of calm leadership and diplomacy in managing sensitive inter-state matters.
The Alternative Movement further recognizes the role played by the Nigerian delegation led by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, whose engagement reaffirmed the value of mutual respect and open communication between brotherly African nations.
This development reinforces the enduring principles of African brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual understanding. At a time when unity among African states is both necessary and urgent, this outcome serves as a reminder that cooperation and respect for sovereignty remain essential to regional peace and stability.
We remain hopeful that this episode will strengthen relations between Nigeria and Burkina Faso and contribute to deeper collaboration anchored in trust, fraternity, and a shared commitment to Africa’s collective progress.
