Happy Birthday to an extraordinary statesman. It is remarkable to reflect on how time truly makes all things beautiful. I recall how things looked 10 years ago after you left the office of the President, and I was confident that the roles you now play both within Nigeria and in the subregion would require a different kind of leadership.

Now more than ever, your strategic support is needed for the country. The business of service should not be limited to the holding of high office alone; I encourage you to dedicate even greater effort to the responsibilities of the elevated office of statesmanship.

This nation has given you much, and it will be right to give back even more. Our country must strive to unite, embrace patriotism, and, above all, maintain peace.
