Government Must Ensure PTA Members and Executives Have Current Students in Ogun State Schools .

The need to strengthen accountability in our schools has made it necessary to call for urgent reform in the composition of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) across Ogun State.

It has come to notice that some PTA executives and members do not have wards currently enrolled in the schools they oversee. This practice undermines transparency, opens doors to exploitation, and diverts PTAs from their true mandate of protecting the welfare of students.

We therefore call on the Ogun State Ministry of Education to urgently issue a clear directive that:

Membership and executive positions in PTAs must be restricted strictly to parents or guardians of students currently enrolled in the school.

Schools should carry out annual verification of membership at the beginning of each academic session.

This reform will ensure that PTAs are truly representative, transparent, and accountable, while also protecting our students from undue exploitation.

Together, let us safeguard the integrity of our education system and make PTAs a genuine partner in shaping the future of Ogun State.

Ven Samson Kunle Popoola JP

Ogun State PCRC Chairman.
