OGUN PCRC CONDEMN STUDENTS’ UNREST AND VANDALIZATION OF SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURES AT ILUGUN HIGH SCHOOL, ABEOKUTA
The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogun State Command, strongly condemns the recent incident of unrest and vandalization of school infrastructures perpetrated by students of Ilugun High School, Abeokuta yesterday, the 29th of September, 2025.
This unfortunate development not only undermines the sanctity of education but also constitutes a grave act of indiscipline and disrespect for constituted authority. The destruction of school property, which was provided through the hard-earned resources of government and the goodwill of the community, is unacceptable and will not be condoned.
The PCRC, as a bridge between the Police and the community, calls on parents, guardians, community leaders, and all stakeholders to rise to the occasion by instilling the right values of discipline, respect, and responsibility in our young ones. A school is a citadel of learning and character molding; turning it into a ground for violence and destruction is a direct threat to the future of our youths and society at large.
We commend the prompt intervention of security agencies in restoring calm, and we urge the Ogun State Ministry of Education to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in addressing the root causes of such unrest through dialogue, counseling, and stronger disciplinary measures.
The PCRC Ogun State Command remains committed to supporting the Police in maintaining peace and order in our schools and communities. We also appeal to students to embrace peaceful means of expression and to always channel their grievances through appropriate authorities. Violence and vandalization are never solutions.
Together, let us safeguard the future of our children and protect the educational institutions that serve as their foundation for tomorrow.
Signed:
For: PCRC Ogun State Command
