Showunmi, Others Holds 40-Days Fidau For Late Muhammadu Buhari.
The Convener of the non Political Movement, "THE ALTERNATIVE" Otunba Segun Showunmi today Friday 22nd August holds 40-days Fidau prayer in honour of late former President, Muhammadu Buhari where he admonished political and non Political leaders to emulate the good deeds of past leaders while eschewing the negative ones.
The 40-days Fidau prayer was held at Keesi Town hall, Itoko, Abeokuta the Ogun State capital which also took place in Katsina to mark in honour of Former President Muhammadu Buhari.
On the sidelines of the event, Showunmi advised Nigerian leaders to take a cue from Buhari’s life, stating that the late president “lived a minimal life by not accumulating unnecessary wealth while in office.”
“On this day we gather in Abeokuta and Katsina to pray and remember Former President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR). May Almighty Allah reward him with Paradise,” Showunmi said.
He added that the purpose of the event was “to in a little way encourage leaders to live right knowing that people are watching.”
Showunmi noted, “I observed how minimally Buhari lived and how sacrificially he maintained a less-than-flamboyant life.
“I observed how disciplined he went about his activities while on earth and I complete our mourning of him today with a 40th-day prayer in Abeokuta where I come from and where he also lived in his early days at Alamala barracks and Katsina where he is from.”
Showunmi also used the occasion to call for more mutual understanding and cooperation between the North and South, particularly the Yorubas and their northern relatives.
The Chief Imam of Keesi Central Mosque, Sheik Akeem Olorunisola, and the guest lecturer, Muhammad Robiu Adekolu, both spoke at the event, admonishing Nigerians to emulate the good deeds of the former president.
The Chief Imam described Buhari as a man who lived a modest and peaceful life. Adekolu equally reminded the gathering of the need to impact others, rather than pursuing worldly possessions.
“One of the things we have lost in the country is the fear of God. The late president was a God fearing man. He did not accumulate wealth, having administered the country three times, one as military head of state and two times democratically elected,” Adekolu stated
