DEMOCRACY DAY: NNPP Commends Nigeria's 26 Years of Unbroken Democratic Governance
Today we remember and celebrate Chief MKO Abiola and many forgotten heroes who gave up their souls for the survival of Democracy in Nigeria..
On June 12, 1993,CHIEF MOSHOOD KASHIMAWO OLAWALE ABIOLA popularly known as MKO won the fairest and freest Presidential Election in the history of Nigeria. . General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida annulment of the June 12 1993 Election never succeeded in killing the democratic spirit of Nigerians. Nigerian democratic struggles survived Babangida, Shonekan, Abacha and Absallam. On the 29th of May 1999, General Abdulsalam Abubakar handed over power to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as a democratically elected President. Hence, Nigeria for 26 unbroken years has been running democracy.
Today, we are all celebrating the Day Nigerians stood as one indivisible Nation irrespective of tribes and religious differences. e are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who incidentally was part of the June 12 struggles to do more than expected by making dividends of democracy available at the table of every Nigerian.
May the good Lord make the good spirit of June 12 and the genuine intentions of Chief MKO Abiola and other forgotten heroes of June 12 struggles to be reinvented in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to renew our hopes to reality of a greater and better Nigeria..
HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY...
Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday,
