Egba Governorship 2027 is Not Just a Dream, It;s a Reality; - Group Vows
As political activities heat up in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections, a group, Egba Agenda 2027 has reaffirmed its commitment and bold declaration, stating that having an Egba governor in 2027 is not just a dream, but a reality they're committed to achieving.
Speaking at the forum's first meeting in 2025 in Abeokuta, which brought together members from all the three Senatorial Districts in the state, the state leader of the forum, Hon. Dapo Adeyemi revealed that Egba Agenda 2027 was created to push for an Egba indigene to occupy the governorship seat in 2027 general elections.
Hon. Adeyemi explained that the initiative, which began nearly nine months ago, has gained momentum, with strong support from people across different regions, therefore expressed his confidence in the growing momentum and determination to see the agenda through.
According to him " This forum is a rainbow coalition that includes members from various political parties, non-partisan individuals, artisans, and market women, all united for this cause."
"Let me clarify, we have not yet adopted any candidate. Every eligible Egba indigene is qualified to join the forum, and when the time comes, any one of them who is adopted will become our candidate."
"Our agenda has been in motion for quite some time—this isn’t a new effort. We actually started nearly nine months ago. However, as we enter the new year, we are transitioning into a more focused and determined phase of our movement."
"It’s also important to note that this agenda has strong support from people across different regions. The individuals you see here today represent the East and the West, and many others in these regions share our vision and commitment to this cause. The momentum is growing, and we are determined to see it through." Hon. Adeyemi concluded.
Also speaking the Egba Agenda 2027 Chairman, Chief Mustapha AbdulHakeem Owolabi hinted that the Egba Agenda 2027 is a coalition of individuals from various backgrounds, spanning across the three geopolitical zones of Ogun State, with a membership strength of over 10,000 people.
He said the forum is not in competition or conflict with any group, but rather welcomes collaboration with other organizations, saying that the group's 10-point agenda outlines their core goals, which include political reorientation and voter education.
His words "Our commitment is to support any credible candidate from Egba, regardless of party affiliation, as long as they align with our vision."
"Our representatives from across party lines are prepared to mobilize massive support for Egba indigene. However, our most crucial mission is what we call political reorientation and voter education."
"Our 10-point agenda outlines the core of our goals, and we encourage you to review it carefully. We are not in competition or conflict with any group. On the contrary, we welcome collaboration with as many groups as possible. But this is our group—a coalition that spans across the three geopolitical zones: the West, the East, and the Central, over 200 leaders from various backgrounds are present, united in their commitment to better governance in 2027."
"Previously, I mentioned on one of our programs that we have a membership strength of 10,000 people—and that is no exaggeration. We issue membership cards, and our members treat them with dedication, carrying them with the same reverence as one would a Bible."
"This dedication is evident in the 200 cards distributed today, as more people are buying into our vision. Members are not only committed but are also funding and contributing to the group’s progress, ensuring that the Egba Agenda continues to grow and move forward." Egba Agenda 2027 Chairman said.
On his parts "The State Coordinator of the EGBA Agenda 2027, Alhaji Adesina MacGregor, revealed that the group is an independent body that is not finance by any politicians.
He said "No, absolutely no, no one is stepping back, and no one is financially backing us. We are simply a coalition of individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a common vision. Whether you are a politician, a voter, or just a concerned Nigerian, as long as you align with our dreams, you are welcome to be part of this movement.
