COURT RESTRAINED OGSIEC FROM MONITORING FACTIONAL NNPP PRIMARIES.

Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has been restrained by the Court from observation of any other primary Election of New Nigeria People's Party NNPP of Ogun State Chapter and nominations of Chairmanship and Councillorship Candidates except the LG Primary Election Exercise that took place at NUJ Hall, Iwe Irohin House Abeokuta on Friday 30th of August 2024.

A Suit filed at the Ogun State High Court today Tuesday 3rd of September to restrain OGSIEC from participating or accepting any other factional Candidates of New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) Ogun State except the NNPP's LG Elections Primaries it observed and participated on the 30th of August, 2024.

In the Suit with No AB/581/2024  with copy available to our correspondent, The New Nigeria People's Party NNPP informed the Court through its counsel Barrister Monday Mawah of Templum Chamber that the Party has Conducted it's primary election to elect Chairmanship and Councillorship into the 20 Local Government Areas and 236 Wards of Ogun State on Friday 30th of August 2024 and that by OGSIEC guidelines for the November 16 2024 Election, a political party shall not be allowed to field two candidates for the same position in the election.

Therefore, OGSIEC by her own rules and constitution of the guidelines for 2024 Elections cannot observe  another factional primary of the same party or receive nominations of two candidates from the same party. The inference of the suit is that OGSIEC is allowed by law to stand ONLY on the already observed primary of NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE'S PARTY NNPP of the 30th of August 2024 except the Court says otherwise.

While answering questions from journalists, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the National Secretary of NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE'S PARTY (NNPP)  made it clear that the party is satisfied with the conduct of OGSIEC before, during and after the Primary Election held on the 30th of August 2024. In his words" we have no issue against OGSIEC, we only went to court to protect our party and candidates from highjackers - the Kwankwasia's who are mauruding as NNPP members."

Oginni further explained that the Court is there to sanitize and ensure peaceful society. We  approached the Court to wave away confusionists  who are always looking for trouble by stealing the intellectual properties of other people.

We believe that Governor Dapo Abiodun and OGSIEC shall play the game according to the rules of law by making the November 16 LGS Election free, fair and credible.
