Ogun PDP Chieftain, Otunba Segun Showunmi Mourns The Passing of Iyalode Alaba Lawson.

 Iyalode Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson, January 18, 1951 - October 28, 2023. 

Agbe ti ran omo re daaro ooo. 

Aluko ti ran omo re doosun ooo! Olenle. 

The sparrow has sent forth Alaba Oluwaseun to get the dye in the land of no return hmm.

Indeed the woodcock has sent Iyalode Alaba Lawson to get the mystical cam wood from the land of our ancestors. 

Such is the lamentation in my soul upon hearing the news of the death of Iyalode Alaba Lawson, a woman of remarkable exploits, in business, education, industry, traditional institutions, gender issues, in the church, in her family and within the community. 

Strong-willed, very brave, extremely focused, and bold in the order of her predecessors like Madam Tinubu, Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, and Bisoye Tejuosho, all of them iconic women of egba extraction. 

It is odd reading that she passed at the age of 72, she has been in our consciousness for so long in a consistent manner that you just thought she was way older, I guess it is correct the saying a life well lived is a life of impact deeply felt. 

Her Lawson group of schools in Abeokuta has nurtured many and I pray continues to nurture so many more in the future. 

Iyalode Oluwaseun Alaba Lawson May light guide you on your journey to the afterlife. May you be received into the heavenly  Parthenon by our ancestors.
