Why We Must Never Back Down. By Inaede Benedict Oshiorenorya.

Let me begin by encouraging us that returning to Egypt should never be an option. No matter the length of the night, the day must surely come. The most important time to get more involved in the Nigerian political project is NOW.

I consider it very right when Plato said "those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber".

In 2003 someone approached me to come and contest an elective position in my local government, promising all the support to win. I reply to the person was to let me think through it. After proper examination of my financial status and my job, I declined. That meant I was not ready. Rather I decided to support someone else who was contesting for councillorship.

Again in 2006 another call came calling, this time I was interested and I gave it a shot but the political process then trucated my effort and the rest is story. This same time Oshiomhole coming into the political arena further encouraged me but the story remain the same; nothing much happened. The popular slogan then which was pioneered by Adams Oshiomhole was "one man, one vote" but the selection process was still a mess. The process was still characterised with lots of manipulations, malpractices and irregularities.

Despite I couldn't get the ticket, Oshiomhole won through the court and we participated in that government which has been the best in Edo State since 1999 till date. The APC lost it because Comr. Adams Oshiomhole never listened to anyone except only himself. He selected a candidate by himself that brought calamity to himself and his party, APC. Today there is weeping and terrible hunger in the land because of one man's ego and mistake. Don't forget that good leaders are good listeners.

In 2018, I started making moves and 2019 we met the treacheries again and this time it was purely for money bag and yet I still supported my party and our party candidates for House of Assembly won but were never sworn in and never utilize that mandate which is coming to an end in May. Four years wasted on triviality. That year I decided to quite partisan politics and remain on my own.

At this time I was tired and wearing of the whole process and players of the game. I said to myself until I found a platform that agrees with my values and way of life, I will not participate. Between 2021 and 2023, I got over 800 calls from political friends, associates, new comers who needed support and guidance but I never break my decision never to join any of the two major political parties rather I prayed for NIGERIAN leadership for God to intervene. Maybe I was not aware of Mao Zedong when he said "politics is war without bloodshed and war is politics with bloodshed". Plato believed that one of the penalty for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. We must never back down. Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest president ever in America, was morally opposed to slavery and politically opposed to any expansion of it, until he fully came into politics and gained the political power, he could not change anything. Mahatma Gandhi of India didn't get the liberty of his people in a dining table. Nelson Mandela fault his life into the prison. But they all got what they wanted at the end.

Boom! sometime in March 2022, I started reading about Mr. Peter Obi on international platforms and the stories resonate with my ideology, religion belief, true leadership and moral values. Then I knew it was time to come out again and contribute to the redemption our dear country NIGERIAN. It is time to take part in the government. If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your country, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools- (Plato). 2023 election should give the youths more reasons to participate more actively.

Am not coming out for this position because am the best but am coming out because am eminently qualify to do the job. The Obidient movement resonates with my political leaning, values and ideology. I want to use this opportunity to encourage others who share similar values to join in this Obidient Movement, support the system and contest for elective positions either on party exco or representative.

Am contesting as the Publicity Secretary of Labour Party Edo State Chapter. I need your prayers, ideas and support to make sure we secure our presidential stolen mandate, and win the forth coming governorship election in Edo State. This is a call for good governance and quality leadership. A call for emercipation of the Edo people from political ATM.

Today with the Obidients movement, a New NIGERIAN is possible. We have National Assembly members, State Assembly members and a State Governor. Those who contested against the government, INEC, police, and thong. They contested against the money bags and won gallantly without giving shishi. That is the New Nigeria; a Nigeria where credibility, excellence, accountability and transparency thrive.

My fellow Obidients, do not lose hope or despair because of the temporal setback by INEC who promised so much but compromised the elections and sold the presidential election to Bola Ahmed Tinubu. it's on record that NIGERIANS have never been this motivated for any electoral process since Independence. The credit is to the Obidients Movement.

To me, despite all that happened let us not be wearing or discourage the end of the journey is closer than ever imagined. let us wake up and intensify efforts on reclaiming our mandate.

God bless you all for your support..
