Showunmi Remains PDP Gubernatorial Candidate As Appeal Court Gives Judgement

An Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, August 15, 2022 has ruled in favour of a factional Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun state, Otunba Segun Showunmi in a case between him, the Peoples Democratic Party and two others.

According to the lawyers of the case, the implication of the ruling in a suit filed by Segun Showunmi against the Party, Ladi Adebutu and co is that Segun Showunmi remains the candidate of the main opposition party in Ogun state unless otherwise ruled.

The Appellate Otunba Segun Showunmi had complained to the law court that the Ogun state Executives of the Peoples Democratic Party acted in bias when they allegedly purchased nomination and interest form for Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu the third respondent without doing same for other candidates who purchased the form legally including Showunmi.

Before the judgement of the Appeal Court, Hon. Ladi Adebutu who has been parading himself as the Governorship candidate had entered into an agreement with the Governorship candidate of the Allied People's Movement in the 2019 election, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, who recently decamped to Peoples Democratic Party as Hon. Adebutu's running mate.

Segun Showunmi who is confident that he has all it takes to make Ogun state an economic viable entity has not relented in making progressive efforts to put the state on a world map.

On his recent travel to Brazil, Otunba Showunmi has expressed optimism that with his programmes that will cut across all sectors, the indigenes of Ogun state should be confident that the state is in for a new deal of economic reset.

Reacting to the news, Otunba Segun Showunmi  wrote " Sincerely Set!!! Team Segun Showunmi, I have just been informed that the court of appeal has ruled in our favour! Indeed our case is now on! Segun Showunmi for Governor Ogun State!!!".
