APC Convention: Dapo Abiodun Unfit to Chair Election Appeal Committee – ADAPHAI.
The Advocacy for Advancement of Peace & Harmony in Africa Initiative (ADAPHAI) has described Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State as unfit to head the Election Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Recall that the party recently released a programme for its National Convention slated for March 26, 2022, making the Ogun State Governor the Chairman of the Election Appeal Committee.
Addressing a press conference on Friday in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Sulaimon Suberu, said the organization considered it imperative to raise the alarm on the competence and antecedents of Abiodun, which according to him could portend danger for the party and the country at large.
“After perusing the schedule of the programme released by the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for its National Convention slated for March 26, 2022, where the Governor of Ogun State, Mr Dapo Abiodun was pencilled down as the Chairman of the election appeal committee, we want to emphatically state that such nomination portends a serious threat to the peace of Nigeria considering the status of APC as the ruling party.
“As a critical stakeholder in the Nigerian project and democratic governance, we, therefore, considered it a duty to raise our voice in the face of pending political debacle that could further heighten political tension in our dear country and irredeemably jeopardize our evolving democracy.
“To put the record straight, Governor Dapo Abiodun, by his remote and immediate antecedents lacks the requisite democratic credentials and moral standing to handle a sensitive assignment of that nature at this critical time in our history as a nation.
“In the first instance, the pronouncement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in December 2021, in which the temple of justice frowned at what it called illegality in the purported conduct of All Progressives Congress, APC’s Primary election of June 26, 2021, in Anambra State, which was superintended by Mr Dapo Abiodun, was a clear-cut confirmation of his immediate antecedent as a harbinger of electoral fraud of high magnitude in Nigeria”, Suberu opined.
He also accused the Governor of being indicted in multiple felon cases in the United States of America, bothering on fraud and dishonesty.
He continued, “It may interest you to know that we are presently in possession of documented evidence that clearly shows that Governor Dapo Abiodun was indicted in multiple felon cases in the United States of America bothering on Fraud and dishonesty. Irrefutable documented evidence shows a pattern of repeat criminal offences – 12th July 1986, 6th November 1986 and 15th January 1987, in that order.
“In a bid to manipulate extant provisions of Nigerian Constitution on the eligibility of ex-convicts or persons indicted for dishonesty and fraud to contest for public office (Section 182, subsection (d),(i) and (j), Governor Dapo Abiodun, deliberately CONCEALED his criminal past by Redacting his criminal records on 18th August 2015, at exactly 3:18 pm (Copy of Redacted page attached).

“It is also important to note that, preliminary findings show that Governor Dapo Abiodun also knowingly lied under oath in his 2019 INEC Form CF001 and his claims that he attended the Kennesaw State University on National television (Channels TV) is questionable.”
