Tinubu Support Groups Plan One Million-Man Walk in Ibadan For a Leader.
The Coalition of Support Groups for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (COSGABAT) has commenced plans for one million-person walk in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The walk will be in solidarity with the 2023 presidential race of the former Lagos Governor.
The rally is slated for December 1, 2021
The coalition kick-started preparations for the rally at the capital city by inaugurating committees that will work towards achieving the goal of making the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the preferred presidential candidate in the next election.
Addressing the members, the Director General of the coalition Mr Akin Thomas explained that Ibadan was chosen for the inauguration because Oyo is the only State not governed by the APC in Southwest.
Besides, he said Ibadan is the capital of Yoruba land.
“For this reason, we know it may not be easy but we will achieve our goal. We need to make a statement that this is the man we want in Southwest, hence we must put into it everything we have. Ibadan was also chosen to inaugurate the committees to test the commitment of members.
” This is a very serious business. We won’t rest until after the walk takes place,” he said.
Thomas further explained the rally would draw Tinubu’s supporters from the six Southwest States, pointing out that it would take off at Adamasingba and end at Iwo Road interchange.
“The walk came as a vision because we have seen what Asiwaju has done in the past. And we believe it is time for Southwest to produce the next president. And the next candidate we can project in Southwest for the next presidential election is Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The walk is for all the people in Southwest to stand together and make a statement that Asiwaju Tinubu is who we want in Aso Rock in 2023,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of all the committee members, Princess Folasade Oba, who is the chairperson, Finance Committee, underscored the enormity of the task, stressing that work has commenced immediately.
She said: “ We can’t do less for Asiwaju Tinubu. We see no better choice than him at this time in the history of Nigeria. So, it is a honour and privilege to serve in selecting the best candidate to lead Nigeria as from 2023.”
She pledged the commitment of all committee members to the goal.
Members were drawn from Ogun, Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo and Ondo states.
Adewale Adeogun from Ogun State said: “When we started this long ago, it was not popular but we are happy today that Nigerians have seen that Tinubu is a magical man.
Asiwaju has done well for himself, Yoruba and Nigeria at large.”
