There Must be a Synergy Between The Community And The Law Enforcement -- CP Lanre Bankole.
The Number one Police officer in Ogun State CP Sikiru Lanre Bankole psc has called on the community leaders to make sure their is a good synergy between the Communities and the law enforcement agencies in the state by joining hands with the Nigerian Police because we can not say that the community we have now is what we really intend or what we like to have that we still have incident of lawlessness, criminality and this are being perpetrated and we needs to tackle this whenever they are together of which the Nigerian Police is the lead agency
CP Lanre Bankole said this on Tuesday 9th November on his Familiarization/Visit to Adatan Area Command Police Headquarters to Familiarize with the Nigerian Police Force, PCRC, Royal Fathers, Chief's, Stakeholders and other security Sisters under Adatan Area Command.
We should unit in the sense that the gathering we have is reflection of what the society is, the readiness of the Nigerian Police in Ogun State Command to the good people of Ogun State is to provide best service in terms of the security we can have.
He thanked everyone and the royal father's for this great gathering that this is just a general forum that he will still take his time to meet with all the Royal father's in their domains to discuss some other issues.
Earlier in her welcome Address, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Charge of Adatan Area Command ACP UDUAK O. ITA Represented by the Aregbe Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police CSP Tanaruno A. Folashade described the Number Police Officer in the state as the epitome of highest level and season detective and highly operative number one crime fighters in the Nigerian Police Ogun State Command.
ITA said Adatan Area Command is one of the new Area Command created out of Abeokuta Metro in year 2018 and it is made of eight (08) Divisional Police Headquarters namely, Adatan, Obantoko, Aregbe, Odeda, Funaab/Harmony, Oke-Itoku, Enu Gada and Bode-Olude Division that Adatan Area Command was created out of the need to move closer to the members of the public and to give the best accurate protection of lives and properties and since that time Adatan Area Command have recorded a lots of achievement especially since she assumed office as the Area Commander.
Bode-Olude and Odeda Divisions have arrested serial kidnappers, we also have arrest of cultist by Oke-Itoku and Enu Gada Divisions. We also recorded at Funaab/Harmony and Aregbe at different times arrest of house breakers.
With the adoption of community policing which is working like a magic has been able to help us to fill in the gap in the policing of our Area Command, Also the result of synergy between the Area Command and the community can not be over envacise. The command is not without any challenge especially in the area of mobility which no doubt happening and affected the smooth running of effective Administration in the Area Command, said ACP ITA.
In his own, the state PCRC Chairman, Ven. Samson Kunle Popoola JP on behalf of PCRC Members said Ogun State is sharing shadow of what community policing should be about. The issue of community policing in Ogun State is such that all the Communities have key into the community policing larger of the state. He assured the CP that the PCRC in Ogun State will continue to be there for Nigerian Police like he always say that the Police remains an orphan in the society where people do not recognize or appreciate Police efforts but the PCRC will always be there to stand and when it comes to the areas of information and intelligent gathering which is a key ingrigents for any effective policing, the PCRC with the Support of our Royal father's, Community leaders, we will always be there to support the Nigerian Police.
Popoola said in areas where Police need intervention, the PCRC has always been there, we have spareheaded some school initiative where we go to school to lecture children's on the need to move away from crimes and criminalities under this Area Command and Ogun State in general. We organized seminars and security summit so that the Police and other security agencies can come together and find solution to peculiar problems in our Area.
We know that community policing is the one that recognize that crimes is local and the solution to crimes and criminalities must be solve from the local Communities, said Popoola.
At the end, he ordered all the Divisional Police Officers to paste their Phone Numbers on their front desk for people to move closer and have full access to them.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has visited the Alake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo to Familiarize with the Kabiyesi and his Chief's before coming to the Area Command.
All the Divisional Police Officers under Adatan Area Command were present, the PCRC State Chairman Architect Samson Kunle Popoola JP, PCRC Chairman Adatan Royal Area Command Hon Taiwo Akinlabi Represented by Alhaji Najeemdeen Gbadamosi all Area Command Executives, So-safe Corp, Civil Defence and other security sisters were present. The Olu of Orile Itesi Oba Engr. Adeniyi Oluyinka Emulu, the representative of the Olu of Orile Imo in Odeda local government also at the meeting.
