PROFILE OF NEW OGUN STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE.



He is CP LANRE SIKIRU BANKOLE

A Bachelor's degree holder of Arts (BA) in English and Literature from the prestigious University of Lagos, 

The new CP, as a member of the Bar, is a Minister in the Sacred Temple of Justice, Having bagged a degree in Law (LLB) from the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye and BL from the Nigeria Law school, Lagos.

According to a press release issued by the Ogun State Police Command spokesman (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the new police chief hails from Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as a cadet assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in March, 1990, and has worked in various capacities and in different Police formations.

He had served in Akwa Ibom Police Command, Ebonyi State Police Command, Nigerian Ports Authority Police Command as well as in Ogun State Police Command.

While serving in the Gateway State, the new CP was at different occasions the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abigi, Sango-Otta, Agbara and Owode-Egba respectively.

A familiar face in the state, who understands the terrain, CP Bankole had also served as Area Commander, Shagamu as well as Zonal Sports Officer.


He was one time the Assistant Commissioner of Police, in charge of Port CID, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Police Command.


When promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), he was posted to the Interpol Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja as DCD 

Administration and Investigation, where he was between 2017 and 2020.

On his elevation to the rank of Commissioner of Police in June, 2021, Bankole was posted to the Interpol Section of the FCID, Alagbon, Lagos before his current posting by the Inspector-General Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, as the Police helmsman in Ogun State.

CP Bankole attended various professional courses within and outside the shores of Nigeria, notable among which were; Junior Command Course, Intermidiate Command Course, Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College (PSC), Jos Plateau State.

He also attended Financial Crime Course at Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in Badagry, as well as the United Nations Logistics Officer's Course at Koffi Annan Peace Keeping and Training Center, Ghana.

He is happily married and blessed with wonderful children.
