I Still Remain Ogun PDP Authentic Chairman - Bamgbose

 

............. Said His Suspension is Unconstitutional, Laughable.

ABEOKUTA - Chief Samson Bamgbose has described his suspension as PDP chairman in Ogun state by the State Working Committee as laughable and unconstitutional. 

Bamgbose who was suspended alongside some other exco members at an extra-ordinary meeting of the party held on November 9, 2020 over an alleged anti-party activities, insisted that he remains the authentic Chairman of the party.

The embattled Chairman at a press briefing in Abeokuta on Monday, described the suspension as illegal, saying that  Executive had no constitutional right to suspend him.

He also stressed that the suspension was barbaric, stating that those who suspended him had no prerogative power to summon Exco meeting, as the party's constitution provides. 

According to Bamgbose, Leke Sittu, Vivian Iniroje, Olasunkanmi Oyejide, Dr. Remilekun Bakare and Chief Kola Sorinola who spare headed his suspension had been suspended since November 3, 2020.

He explained that, the suspended party leaders have been directed to appear before The Disciplinary Committee headed by Hon. Bola Odumosu. 

"The news of purported suspension of Chief Samson Bamgbose or any member of his PDP Exco after a meeting in Lagos last weekend is laughable.

"This is effort in futility by few elements who were earlier suspended by the party for party misrepresentation, indiscipline and gross misconduct since 2nd November 2020.

"The members are: Leke Shittu (forrmer State Secretary), Olasunkanmi Oyejide (former State PRO), Vivian Uwaokhonye (former State Legal Adviser). Others are Dr. Remi Bakare and chief Kola Sorinola. 

"They were directed to appear before the Disciplinary Committee headed by Hon.Bola Odumosu.

"The Party therefore appeal to our members and supporters to be calm as peaceful resolve to reposition the Party, geniue reconciliation and oneness of PDP in Ogun state towards 2023 election is on course. As Futher demonstration of our resolve to have an all inclusive PDP, Dr. Remi Bakare &others have been granted extension of time to appear before the Disciplinary Committee headed by Hon. Bola Odumosu for peaceful resolution of their issues with the Party, instead of taking action that can possibly divide or embarrass our Party."

In his reaction, Oyejide Olasunkanmi who is the party's Publicity Secretary insisted that Bamgbose and others remained suspended, describing them as bunch of jesters. 

Oyejide stressed that,  "Bamgbose and his cotravellers are bunch of jesters. The constitution of the party speaks for itself. I will refer him to Article Article 47 (6) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017). 

"Being the Chairman does not mean he is bigger than the party. The State Executive Committee of the party at an extraordinary meeting held on Nov 9, 2020  decided to suspend him and 6 others for anti-party activities. 

"The decision of the State Executive Committee is in line with the constitution of the party.  We have referred his case to the National body of the party for appropriate actions.

"Others are to appear before the seven man committee headed by Dr. Remi Bakare. He has been adequately replaced by Barr. Boladale Sanni from Yewa North Local Govt."
