I'll Lose My integrity if I Return to APC, Says Governor Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki has broken his silence on which political party he will finally settle with - Obaseki on Friday, September 25, vowed that he will lose his integrity if he returned to the APC - In fact, the governor said that it will be immoral for him to go back to the party that disqualified him before the Edo governorship election

Governor Godwin Obaseki has finally reacted to claims and reports that he is thinking of returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after winning the Edo gubernatorial election. There have been controversial reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s governorship candidate in the state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, begged Obaseki to come back to the party, a claim which the governor's rival has vehemently denied,

Put an end to this uncertainty when he spoke with journalists after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja. The governor told reporters that it will be immoral for him to return to the APC, adding that this will make him lose his integrity. 

He made it clear that he will never return Adams Oshiomhole as the godfather of Edo politics. Meanwhile, a presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie had disclosed that Obaseki visited President Buhari to thank him for ensuring fairness in the Edo election.

The presidency said Obaseki appreciated the fact the president put measures in place to make the Edo governorship election credible. 

Earlier, Obaseki had showered a flurry of encomium on President Buhari, with the Edo governor saying that he won the Saturday, September 19 guber election because the Nigerian leader wanted people's will to succeed. Speaking in an exclusive interview with BBC on Sunday, September 20, after being declared the winner of the keenly contested election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Obaseki said the president's neutrality sealed his victory.
