Amid COVID-19: SHOMIDE ASSURES COHESION, DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY AT ABK SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT


The Chairman, Transition Committee, Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide, has reassured the people, living in the LG area, of an immeasurable unity among the political functionaries, staff, residents and the voting populace of the area.

He said this while he was monitoring the level of compliance of the residents since the emergence of Lockdown in Ogun State and in the same vein, appreciated the law enforcement agencies for the stay-at-home methods applied at nooks and crannies in Ogun State.

Hon. Shomide, who guaranteed the people of   equitable distribution of dividends of democracy,  despite the outbreak of Coronavirus, affirmed this during the discussion with the residents that his administration would leave an indelible footprint in democratic governance, before living the office.

The Chairman further explained that provision of basic necessities of life to the people, in the local government area, had  become paramount to all members of the Transition Committee, stating: "I had met with my people; I understood their plights which availed me insight into the possible areas where they wanted me to actualise the dividends of democracy".

Hon. Shomide, therefore, implored the populace, most especially the youths in the LG  area, to always channel their good potentials not  for the socio-economic and political development of Abeokuta South LG, but for the glory of Nigeria, as a Nation

He however stated that his administration would continue to embrace peaceful coexistence at the  local government  level, empowering the youths more, listen and attend to the areas where government's concerns are needed for growth and economic emancipation of the people.

Hon. Shomide enjoined the youths to believe more in themselves, by being hardworking, engage in fruitful ventures/vocations, shun gangsterism and frivolous acts that could lead them into trouble.

He admonished the dwellers to stay more at  homes,  and if there were needs to go out, in this trying period, they should use Facemask,  maintain physical/social  distancing of 3metres and obey the time frame order of Ogun state governmREPORT
