“LET’S SEEK THE FACE OF GOD, THIS TOO WILL PASS” - APOSTLE BIODUN SANYAOLU ON CORONAVIRUS
The Assistant General Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu, has admonished Nigerians to seek the face of God in the wake of the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country; whilst observing, at the same time, the enhanced measures announced by the government in dealing with the menace.
Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu said this while answering questions from news men in Lagos yesterday as he expressed his belief that Nigerians, with their abiding faith in God, will overcome the Coronavirus pandemic; adding that “this too will pass”.
With the confirmed cases of infections, the clergy said that the rapid spread of the disease across the world has led the Government to institute a number of measures to help ensure that the nation is adequately prepared to combat the spread of the pandemic.
These measures include the suspension of all public gatherings, such as funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities; and the closing down of all Universities, Senior High Schools, and basic schools as well as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps.
Whilst outlining the measures put in place by Government to deal with the pandemic, Apostle Sanyaolu stressed that “as a Christian, a devout one at that, I know of the healing power and saving grace of the Maker of Heaven and Earth, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; because in Him we live, move and have our being.”
He quoted Proverbs 9:10 “those who know Your name trust in You, for You, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek You” and Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
He noted that “in such times, a country whose population is predominantly Christian, must seek the face of the One True God for healing and restoration. So, he humbly called on everyone to pray together to the Almighty God for protection, healing and safety from this pandemic.”
The Assistant General Secretary was confident that “this prayer, which will be offered in faith, will heal our nation, and will help raise Nigeria up.”
