A Sincere Wake Up Call/ Message to His Excellency, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State

By Fabiyi Oladimeji

AN OPEN LETTER TO H.E ENGR. SEYI MAKINDE
Your Excellency Sir

When the announcement of your victory was made by INEC in the March 2019, the Nation, PDP Family and indeed Oyo State in particular went into huge jubilation as the only PDP candidate that survived the APC government onslaught against the main opposition party, PDP in the Southwest Nigeria.

Little did many know that GSM has been in the struggle for quite a while and the victory did not just happen. It was a painstaking efforts, monumental sacrifices ,  consistency and determination to lead your people to progress and prosperity.

Your Excellency Sir, I have a huge concern first as a party man , second as a South Westerner from Ogun State, who has been in active party politics and has served in many party capacity for the past two decades.

Sir, without mincing words, I need not be told when things are not  going well with the party, I also know when you do not have a party that can fight for one as a member or candidate , I also know when a party is or has become a problem unto itself, these are the situation with our party today.

Unfortunately Sir, we are in an era where candidates runs it alone, when party is no more faithful to its members and,  to a large extent this development has  eroded members total confidence, faith and respect in the party principle and leadership.

Sadly, commitment and compassion to members however low or high by the men and women who are saddled with responsibilities of managing the party have taken flight.

Your Excellency Sir, It is unfortunate that today, the PDP’s role as the main opposition is nothing to write home about, what matters to the leadership of the party is only  self and certain parochial personal interest,  their vision is blurred as result of narrow mindedness. I beg not to speak further.

My Sincere advice and wake up message therefore, to H.E GSM, Sir, as fondly called, is that you-go all alone as you did before your electoral victories . God will surely help you.

Sir, no reliance of whatever measure on the so called stakeholders of the party at any levels. Rely on your people, the common men , women and most especially the youths who voted for you, who stood by you during the campaigns and elections, those are the ones who will never allow the works of their hands to go in vain. Trust them, Work with them, mobilize and support them until we secure the total  victory.

Your Excellency Sir, I make bold to say without prejudice that our Judiciary is in serious crisis at the moment and, when that happens to any individual or an organization,  do not expect anything meaningful or favorable from them .

There is no doubt that Governor Seyi Makinde won his election fair and square but sadly, we have a judiciary that is under untold influence and sabotage, that is the reason we must wake up and  be ready so that our God given Golden chance may not be  taken away. 29 to 4 is no joke and undisputable.

Your Excellency Sir, permit me to  say  with all sense of convictions and responsibility, that there is no party neither at the National or the state to fight your course. I see danger ahead and you must not allow yourself to be messed up.

Sir, haven started very well and, your government is gathering so much momentum, your government has become a model for others and the hopes and aspiration of Oyo people in particular and Southwest in general have never been so rekindled by your style of leadership, this is the more reason you should never allow this stride to be messed up.

Governor Seyi Makinde is a Golden Son of Oyo State and pride to the Southwest of Nigeria. He is the shinning light of the PDP, we all have a duty to ensure that you succeed and no Jupiter comes from the back door to steal the mandate freely and fairly given to you by the good people of Oyo State.

It is evidently clear that the Judiciary is not for Nigerians or the opposition party but for the APC and Buhari.

The recent judgement of the Appeal Court on Oyo Guber elections leaves much to be desired and, that is the more reason His Excellency should wake up and take the common destiny you share with the good people of Oyo in your hands.

Your Excellency and the rest of us must always remember the murder of Justice and our democracy in the just concluded Court of Appeal Presidential Election tribunal and final appeal at the Supreme Court. It is still afresh but the rest is history.

Your Excellency Sir, for confidentially purpose, I will forward few  suggestions  to your  private chat and copy  my friend and brother, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa for your  consideration and immediate implementation to avoid stories that touch.

Perhaps, I would have spoken otherwise if the PDP opposition role is as reliable, responsible, potent, strong and effective as expected. We must not always blame the judiciary for our undoing , Inaction, lackluster and lackadaisical attitude when we lose at the Court.
Painfully, the PDP did not do enough to fight for the mandate freely given to the party and our candidate in the last election.

Sir, the red flag is there for us to see, we must not forget very quickly how the Presidential Candidate of our party H. E Atiku Abubakar GCON, was abandoned and left to his fate by the so called critical stakeholders and party Leaders, who should have taken over  the public space and make points and statements that will shake and impact the decision of our courts in order to secure our mandate.

Your Excellency Sir, I challenge them again today, as I did then, how many of them came out to speak in  support of our candidate and even the “Party”While the struggle was on?

Let us agree that the matter was before the court and law will play its role , but a sustained strong public sentiment, opinion, noise and propaganda has a way of shaping the decisions of the courts , as the judges themselves are members of our society, they have biases and they feel the mood of the nation.

All thanks to the Atiku Support Groups that were abandoned  in their millions, who struggled to give a hot chase and fight to the APC and the compromised Judiciary. Their cries and noises has helped in exposing the ills and rots in the Judiciary.

Your Excellency Sir, it is my humble opinion that you pursue your matter at the Supreme Court with God alone, and with all vigor it deserves for the sake of Oyo people.

I wish His Excellency every success as we move to the Supreme Court, always count on God Almighty and carry along your faithful soldiers- The Youths.

Many thanks for your time Sir.

Sincerely Yours.
