HUNDREDS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS EMBARK ON PROTESTS AGAINST GOVERNOR RAHAMAN INSENSITIVITY TO THEIR LECTURERS PLIGHTS
Hundreds of students of college of Education, Ilorin currently marching on the streets on peaceful protest against what they described as unfortunate insensitivity and nonchalant attitudes of the present government under Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq toward their institutions and its workers particularly their lecturers who had endured months of pains and hardships over unpaid Salaries inherited from past government.
The students noted that their protest became imperative following official declaration of over #10Billion as fund which accrued to the state government at the tail end of last administration and which was successfully transmitted to the present government but which no reasonable steps have been taking over how the huge fund would be use
The protesting students claimed they had expected the new governor to have extended his consultations to the staff of Colleges of education who are also parts of those whose salary arrears remains unpaid but the Governor is not forthcoming
The students are therefore calling on Governor Abdulrahaman to be more proactive and more inclusive in his official engagements to ensure timely regularisation of salaries owed to their lecturers.
