TINUBU WILL CONTEST IN 2023 - SENATOR SOLOMON (YAYI)
........ AS EL-RUFAI HEADS TASK FORCE AGAINST PRESIDENTIAL BID
Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon ACA, a returning Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the red chamber, and a close ally of the National Leader of Nigeria's governing party the All Progressives Congress, (APC) has belled the cat among his close political associates that his principal Bola Ahmed Tinubu is eyeing a new political party to realise his presidential ambition if APC close her door on him.
Tinubu a former Lagos State Governor is said to have left not a few feathers unruffled within the party ranks, especially in the Northern echelon with his rabid positioning of his minions and stooges in sensitive national offices of the party and government to boost his chances in 2023.
Senator Solomon said Tinubu will contest the 2023 presidential election under a political platform firmly under his personal control and many party chieftains are mobilising to venture out with him on this quest in the event the ambition failed to fly in APC.
However a high powered northen conspiracy against Tinubu ambition is in the offing: as the annointed candidates of the ruling party, Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for the senate presidency and house of representatives speakership positions respectively: both of whom are being promoted by Tinubu may be the first set of political casualties of the "stop Tinubu agenda".
High ranking northern politicians are said to be skeptical in their support for the party’s annointed candidates so as to avoid doing Tinubu’s bidding and adding to his already fearsome political resources ahead of the 2023 APC presidential primaries.
The recent anti-Tinubu utterances by no other person but Governor Nasir El-Rufai, the political idol and media bulldozer of the North who is also the governor of the political headquarter of Northern Nigeria (Kaduna) has been understood to be a tip of the ice-berg in view of the many frontal attacks the Northern political elements will be dishing out to Tinubu going forward.
These northern elements have decided to jettison the gentleman's unwritten agreement that would have paved way for a south westerner to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari at the expiration of his tenure in 2023.
It recalled that Arewa Youth Forum, a foremost political youth group of northern extraction recently made it clear that the region is not ready and will not hand over power to the south in 2023 when the tenure of President Buhari elapses.
As if that was not enough, Dr Junaid Mohammed, a Russian trained medical doctor and respected elder from the north dismissed the possibility of the zone handing over power to the south in 2023 and urged the south to understand with them and support them to produce another president. As if this episode from the second republican lawmaker was not enough, the ex-SGF, Engr Babachir Lawal who is tipped to deputise Tinubu in 2023 for being the most ranking northern Christian came out to berate the south for demanding the presidential ticket of the APC in 2023 be zoned to them and reiterated to the southern elements in the party that they do not possess the right to lay claims to the Presidential ticket of the APC in 2023.
This chain of events which has since unsettled many political proteges of Tinubu who are said to have been prodding the political tactician to quickly devise a plan B so as not to be taken aback by this seeming betrayal of their cohorts in the north was climaxed few days ago when Nasir El-Rufai, one of the kingmakers of the APC and a respected leader of the north went to Lagos, the political capital of Tinubu’s empire from where he spreads his political tentacles and also rely on for huge resources ahead of 2023 elections to teach Lagos APC factional leaders and Tinubu’s sworn political foes, the likes of the three time commissioner of Lagos state and former national legal adviser of APC, Muiz Banir how to defeat godfatherism in lagos at the "The Bridge House" lecture.
The utterance which has provoked a litany of comments is believed to have been devised to actually teach the defiant lagos APC stakeholders how to break Tinubu’s wings and wittle down his political dexterity from within ahead of the 2023 APC presidential primaries.
A source that spoke with in confidence revealed that the North has appointed El-Rufai due to his position as a governor, his umatched intelligence and huge and far-reaching media base.
Many people have opined that this unhealthy bickering might lead to the end of the party and put it at a political disadvantage ahead of 2023 elections. Others also lamented that this is too early and might distract the elected officials from performing effectively and urged the political players to rather gear their energy and dexterity towards ending poverty and insecurity in Nigeria.
*Me: I'm not surprised at all. This is just the beginning. "Eni a wi fun, oba jeki O gbo".* 🥤🍿
