Ogun 2019: Showunmi Promises better deal for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency

Mr Segun Showunmi, PDP House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South federal constituency has  condemned the poor representation the constituency had witnessed in the past saying that he urge to chart a new course for the people remained the driving force of his political ambition.

Segun Showunmi who is also Spokesman for Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization, (APCO) has described Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, PDP flag bearer in February 2019 presidential election as a very competent and highly successful entrepreneur who has all it takes to strengthen the unity of the country and return her to the path of peace, progress, development and prosperity.

Showunmi stated this during an interview with our Correspondent.

Lamenting the underdevelopment of Abeokuta South federal constituency, the Egba born politician described projects executed so far by both past and serving lawmakers for the constituency as just tokenism.

He explained that the federal constituency deserved someone like him who will take the business of lawmaking beyond distribution of cutlasses and grinding machines in the name of empowerment but rather partner with many donor agencies that can facilitate many developmental projects such as construction of modern health care centres among others.

He further said that human capital development which has to do with improved contribution to public schools, health care for the general well-being of the people, expansion of businesses, partnering with developed countries on social insurance scheme will be his priorities if elected.

Showunmi said “If I am giving the opportunity to serve my people at the National Assembly, I shall support skill acquisition at all levels, not that alone, I will take a step further by gathering tailors in a shop that can house 100, get sewing machines and get contracts from some of the companies producing uniforms, that is the way to grow economy”.

“I will provide WiFi facility in all public Secondary schools within my federal constituency, giving opportunities to students to maximise their potential, you never can tell when a genius idea can be birthed”.

The PDP House of Reps candidate frowned at the prolong legal battle bedevilling the Peoples Democratic Party in the state saying that the internal wrangling ought not to have gotten to this level if the warring parties were ready for dialogue, calling on all stake holders to respect the ruling of the court, as that is the only way to victory.

Speaking on why Nigerians must during presidential poll next month vote for PDP candidate, Showunmi said ” it is very clear to the people that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar remains the man to make this country work again. He has been there before as Vice President for eight years, he has sufficient experience, he is an highly successful entrepreneur with thousands of people working under him. His versatility and knowledge of economy is very great. It is only someone of his calibre that can help lift the country out of the economic woes brought about by the mismanagement of APC led government”.

Showunmi stated further that the choice of Mr Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and a guru in financial engineering as running mate to the PDP presidential candidate further confirmed the commitment of the party to fix the problem of economy ravaging the country and thus pave way for her prosperity.

The political analyst also condemned the much talked about anti corruption crusade of the present administration describing it as a fight that was never intended to be pursued with vigour but rather a guise to intimidate and persecute perceived oppositions to the APC led government.
