Kashamu greets Muslims at Eid-el-Kabir...calls for tolerance, sacrifice

The lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu, has extended his warm wishes to Muslims as they mark the Eid-el-Kabir.

Kashamu, who spoke in Ijebu Igbo on Monday, implored Muslims and Nigerians at large to work and pray for the peace and progress of the nation.

The Ijebu Igbo-born politician and philanthropist urged Muslims faithful and indeed all peoples to be hopeful of better tomorrow irrespective of the challenges they face.

His words,  "As Muslims across the globe mark Eid-el-Kabir, I wish to use this medium to wish all Muslims in Ogun East Senatorial District, Ogun State and Nigeria the very best as they celebrate.

“Eid-el-Kabir symbolises sacrifice. On Eid-el-Kabir, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts: one third of the share is given to the poor and needy; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors; and the remaining third is retained by the family.

"Therefore, as we mark this important season, I want to implore us to be tolerant and learn to share with others around us.

“As we celebrate, let us also pray for our dear country. It is important we remember our brothers and sisters who are displaced. The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are a part of us and there could not have been a better time to remember them then now. Let us therefore spare a thought for them as we celebrate. Happy Eid-el-Kabir."
