Two-time governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) has said that the whole essence of government is not about grandiose projects and fanciful ideas by elected leaders, but it must be about the people.

He made the declaration during his consultative meeting with stakeholders comprising the Council of Baales and Community Leaders at Ijebu-Imushin in Ijebu East Local Government area of the state.

Prince Isiaka while assuring the elders of his competence and credibility in the governorship race, said he plans to make his government people-oriented and meeting the popular demand of the masses always.

His words, "Responsible governance is about people; making sure that people are taken care of and to ensure that all institution of government are tailored to work for the growth and development of the people and their communities".

"Government is not about embarking on grandiose and self seeking projects, to the detriment of initiatives that helps the welfare of citizens. I see a lot of that around now and I feel bad about such lack of focus and misuse of opportunity".

He identified the poor economy and parlous state of the local communities as one of the many deficiencies of the current administration in Ogun State.

Prince Isiaka also promised to avoid misplaced priorities in project execution, assuring that his administration would ensure that developmental projects that are demanded by the people will be evenly spread in the three senatorial districts of the state.

Responding, the Chairman of the Council and Baale of Oke-Agba, Ijebu-Imushin, Chief Christopher Banjo, described Isiaka as the best man to lead Ogun State in 2019, urging the elders to give him massive support in the 2019 governorship election.

"I can vouch for his personality. If you are following political trends, we all know GNI is the most capable, he has paid his dues and has shown consistent character, humility and ideas on what he will do in office. Now is his time and we must support him; and indeed, we have given you our support".

Isiaka expressed his gladness  and thanked the good people of Ijebu East Local Government for the support, promising to live up to his promises after emerging victorious at the forthcoming governorship election in 2019.
