Ondo Govt Reacts as NAOSS Suspend President
The National Executives of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), has declared suspended their President, Mr. Akeredolu Emmanuel.
In a press release dated 26-01-2018, signed by eight of the 10-man-executive council. The embattled President was found guilty of misappropriation of the Association’s funds and gross disregard of executive protocols, by his fellow executives.
Reacting to the development, the special assistant to Governor Akeredolu on Youths and Students, Mr. Banji Adewunmi said the student leaders will soon be called to a dialogue, in order to nip the brewing crisis in the bud.
On a phone chat with nigeriancablenewsonline.com, Mr. Banji said:
“Our interests as a government is to ensure that there is peace in the Association, and we shall be modest in our approach at resolving the crisis”

Revolutionary greetings. We are glad to bring to your notice, the resolutions made at the first executive meeting in 2018. Many issues were discussed, but most notably;
1. Bursary and scholarship
2. State of the nation.
3. Association financial report for the year 2017.
4. Students Empowerment and pending interventions.
ON BURSARY AND SCHOLARSHIP
After so many detailed reports given by the national director of special duties, who is charged to oversee the general welfare of Ondo state students, the house agreed that letters should be sent to necessary quarters to further press forward our demands before confrontation is employed.
…ON STATE OF THE NATION
The executive members agreed that a meeting of all local governments students association’s be called and the senate notified on a proposed emergency national congress to address;

(a) The recent activities of Fulani herdsmen in our state.
(b) The economic clampdown caused by fuel scarcity and illegal increase in fuel pump price by some filling stations.
(c) Ondo state under Aketi-led administration; the achievements, the setbacks.
….ON FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2017.
It was indeed painful and unheard of that the president totally sidelined the financial secretary and the Treasurer on financial matters. However, it would have been pardonable if the President had kept a detailed record of financial matters, but he didn’t. Beyond this irrational and tyrannical attitude, the president proved guilty to;
(a) misappropriating a sum of 40,000 naira meant for demobilization of students during an Education summit organized by Ondo state government in 2017.
(b) Misappropriating a sum of 400,000 naira meant for bus repair.
(c) Threatening the executive members with his acclaimed influence within the Ondo state government house.
With reference to the above accusations, a motion was moved and supported by 8 out of 8 executives present and voting for the indefinite suspension of the president, Mr. Akeredolu Emmanuel and the vice President was therefore placed to act in his capacity in accordance with our sacrosanct constitution.
We therefore advise Mr. Akeredolu Emmanuel to hand over all association properties in the next 7 days.
The Ondo state government and the general public are therefore advised not to deal with Mr. Akeredolu Emmanuel in the name of NAOSS National body.
……ON STUDENTS EMPOWERMENT AND PENDING INTERVENTION
A committee was setup, headed by the national Director of special duties, Aruwajoye Oluwaseun (Jomax) to see to pending intervention and empowerment of students.
A motion of Adjournment was then moved by the General secretary and seconded by the PRO.
A new NAOSS is here, a better Ondo state is possible.
