JUST IN: Appeal Court Rules In Favour Of Sacked Ondo PDP Council Chairmen

The Appeal Court in Akure has granted a leave of appeal to the ousted People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmen and councilors across the eighteen local government areas of Ondo state.

Allowing them to challenge the judgement of the State High court, which earlier sent them out of office.
The Federal Court of Appeal today January 16, 2018 ruled that all parties to the two pending cases before the court should go ahead to file their briefs.
Appellant to the first case, PDP was given three days to file its briefs while the court also gave seven days to the respondent, ODIEC to do same.

The court also ruled in the second case that was instituted by the people’s Redemption Party (PRP) that Barrister Ajakaiye who is the counsel to two of the respondent has overreached himself through his numerous motions that are apparently aimed at stalling proceedings in the case.
Again, the court clearly stated that what the first appellant, PDP was asking was the leave to appeal the judgement of the State High court and not a rejoinder itself as contested by the defendant’s counsel.
Counsel to the two appellants, Barrister Femi Aborisade, a human right lawyer however expressed satisfaction with the court proceedings.
Hon. Ayo Fadaka, the P.R.O of PDP in Ondo sate equally expressed satisfaction in the court process so far, while showing optimism that the party will get justice in no distant time. In a telephone conversation with nigeriancablenewsonline.com, he said:
“We were Cheated as a party, and that is why we have come to appeal. We are however satisfied with the way the case is presently handled at the appeal Court, and we are hopeful and optimistic that we will get justice here in no distance time”
The case was adjourned till Tuesday February 6, 2018
