JOURNALISTS VOWS TO BLACKLIST GOV OKOWA'S EA COMMUNICATIONS, FRED LATIMORE OVER XMAS GIFTS FRAUD.
Journalists in Delta State vowed over the weekend to blacklist the Executive Assistant to Governor of Delta State on Communications, Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe for embezzling the sum of N10 million and 250 bags of rice which was allocated to his office for distribution to some Journalists who assisted him in the performance of his assigned official responsibilities.
The angry journalists, social media assistants and Constituents in Ethiope East LGA of the EACGOVDELTA, as he is fondly called, alleged that an insider in Government House confirmed that instead of Latimore to share the money and rice as directed, he sold the items and made away with the cash which he now enjoys with his family in Lagos.
The Journalists commended the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Charles Aniagwu and the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Patrick Ukah for distributing the rice and cash allocated to them.
The Journalists rising from a crutial meeting in Asaba agreed to report the fraud to Governor Okowa after the Xmas holidays with a view to discipline the EA Cmmunications and compel him to refund the items and money to the state government.
When contacted, the EA Communications to Gov Okowa, Barrister Latimore Fred Oghenesivbe denied the allegation and confirmed that his office got the sum of N50,000 and two bags of rice for the Xmas; tagged as personal Xmas rice and bonus for himself and not for anybody, as the items and money cannot possibly go round Journalists and constituents.
He further asserted that no money and no rice was allocated to his office for distribution to Journalists, social media assistants and constituents; rather it was the Information Commissioner, Hon. Patrick Ukah who in the spirit of Xmas gave him two bags of rice while the Chief Press Secretary, Hon.Aniagwu Charles, out of his personal goodwill and kindness gave him N50,000 cash from the CPS office Xmas cash allocation to members of the Press.
Latimore further alleged that since assumption of office as EA Communications to Gov Okowa, he is yet to be allocated an office and other entitlements, no single penny payment for official work expenses not to talk of Xmas rice and money for the media.
He however commended Gov Okowa for appreciating his loyalty and service but that nothing has happened since his appointment in April, 2017 in terms of funding and enabling working environment that befits his office as Executive Assistant to the Governor on Communication, adding that it was this lacuna that prompted his political detractors to sponsor a backmail advert on social media titled: PRAISE SINGERS FOR GOV OKOWA NEEDED, directing applicants to apply to ORCHID HOTEL as the official office of the EA COMMUNICATIONS.
He said the said advert was a mockery based on instructions by his political detractors within government.
The above claim by Latimore is not tenable as the Journalists promise to investigate the allegations in order to come out with the exact truth to either discharge Latimore of the fraudulent accusations or blacklist him.
