Akesan Day in Iperu: Celebrating Heritage, Unity, and a Legacy of Leadership -Otunba Citizen SSA to the Governor on Culture & Tourism
Akesan Day in Iperu is more than a festival — it is the heartbeat of a people whose history, culture, and identity have stood proudly through generations. The Akesan Market, from which this celebration draws its name, has long been a center of commerce, social life, and communal strength. Today, the celebration remains a powerful reminder of who we are: a community of dignity, hospitality, enterprise, and deep cultural roots.
This year’s Akesan Day carries an added depth of meaning, as Iperu continues to stand tall on the national stage through the exemplary leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON — a proud son of this soil. His commitment to development, infrastructure, and cultural preservation reflects the same values that Akesan Day represents: progress, unity, and shared prosperity. As we gather, we honour not only the traditions of our forebears but also the modern strides inspired by his visionary leadership.
On behalf of Otunba ’Laide Okunola (Citizens), Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture & Tourism, we celebrate the good people of Iperu, our leaders, and all indigenes at home and in the diaspora. May Akesan Day continue to strengthen our bonds, lift our spirits, and remind us of the rich cultural wealth that makes Iperu a place of pride.
