Workers Day 2022: Segun Showunmi Re-echoes Commitment to Workers, Enjoins FG to Pay Striking Lecturers ~ Abamiedaablog
On this worker's day, my heart and mind are with the Lecturers that have been on strike with its attendant effect on the students who have their studies disrupted.
It has lasted too long, I call on the government to fix this mess, we cannot seriously pretend that all is well and go about activities without a thought to the implications of what is happening.
ASUU there is no easy way out as I see it, we are now firmly at a point where we need to think up a comprehensive review of how to fund education sustainably, this unending disruption in the nation's educational system is without a doubt bad in all its ramification.
How do other nations achieve stability that we cannot do the same here?
As for the majority especially those who are unemployed I suppose it is equally a day to reflect on this group too, for what adult won’t like to have a job, the times are very hard and the government is losing the battle to combat unemployment especially as the strategy of the present government is not working.
I feel we must now encourage each other to look to create the jobs ourselves by digging deeper to find that value we can bring, look at all the top players in the present world they are innovators, audacious disruptors who are breaking the banks, the world is still in amazing wonder how the Elon Musks’ of this world do it, Nigerians our creativity is boundless let us tap into it.
The holy book in Proverbs 6:6-11 encourages us to “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summerand gathers its food at harvest.
How long will you lie there, you sluggardWhen will you get up from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty, will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man”.
Be inspired Nigerians and all things will work for our good. It is time for a new deal. Happy workers' day.
