OGUN-TRANSPORT UNIONS BAN: PRINCE DAPO ABIODUN, BE WISE.

By Sodunola Ayodeji Esq.

I heard with one ear, that there is possibility the government of Ogun State place a ban on the activities of transport unions in Ogun State and to be replaced or substituted with an independent and private bodies, which will now manage the transportation activities in the state on behalf of the government.

In my personal view, I am of the opinion that this ban if true as speculated, sounds anti- human and constitute every forms of depriving people and many homes their source to livelihood. This may sounds like nonsense to some elites but it will make meaningful sense to those who are well vast with human understanding and native intelligence.

Placing a ban on the activities of all transport union bodies in the state will absolutely leads to a situation where a large numbers of both old and young people will be jobless and may possibly turn many of them to a menace in the society. No need to argue about the rate of crimes and social vices that the ban will results  to.

I strongly want to give a benefit of doubt to Prince Dapo Abiodun, the executive governor of Ogun State, since no official memo to this effect. The governor should not attempt to order any ban-action or pronouncement  on the transport unions because the effects will not be desirable for him. To me, he needs not to be told or advised that the results of such ban will have adverse and negative effects on the efforts of his government and even successive or future government inclusive will not be spared.

I am not saying the governor cannot ban the unions but that can only be in a situation where the unions leaders and members have constituted actions likely to cause mayhem or disrupt public peace. Anything aside this, totally means that such government is not sensitive and should  be tagged anti people.

Conclusively, my advice for Prince Dapo Abiodun, is to simply be WISE in his best interest, especially at this period and time.
