Easter: Drawing inspiration From the Scripture -- Segun Showunmi
I bring you greetings this Easter holiday. Though the mood of the nation is sober now, we can draw lessons of hope from the scripture.
When Nehemiah led the rebuilding of Jerusalem in 445 B.C, the situation was dire, and as the wall lay broken for such a long time, we find in the book of Nehemiah 2:17 His word: “Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.”
Similarly, we must recommit ourselves to nation-building, knowing just how much work we need to do in national cohesion, rooting out insecurity, realigning our economy for growth, managing unemployment and having the desperately needed conversation around our federalism.
Let us also reset and get our beloved Nigeria working again to benefit ourselves and future generations. Happy Easter.
Sincerely,
-Segun Showunmi
