We are Reeds in the Hands of Fate - Goodnight Senator Buruji Kashamu, Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu

The news of the demise of Senator Buruji Kashamu filtered-in like the usual rumor that will be debunked much later. But alas, it came out to be true. The man Buruji Kashamu is truly gone - How are the mighty fallen? The didactic, magnanimous and irrepressible politician has left this side of the divide into the grand abyss. His demise has robbed Ijebu  -Igbo community, Ogun State & indeed Nigeria one of the brightest political colossus, businessman & philanthropist.

Senator Buruji Kashamu meant numerous things to numerous people. Like every mortal, he had his own indisputable strengths and amendable weaknesses. However, beyond the renown political facade, he was an extremely kind, humane and fine personality of the highest order. He was a man who cherished loyalty, values and could go to any length to assist his friends, associates and subordinates in achieving their dreams. 

Between 2010 and 2019 General Elections, Senator Buruji Kashamu played significant roles in resuscitating the glory of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was singlehandedly instrumental to my decision in contesting for the Ogun Central Senatorial Seat. He could subservient to good purposes. Even despite the fact that the party lost the election and I later moved out of PDP, SPBK didn't loose the chord of friendship. A busy businessman like him was always in touch regardless of the fact that our last physical contact was close to 18 months.

If death was to consider wealth, societal love, humanity and affluence, I am very sure my dearest Senator Buruji Kashamu will still be alive today. His untimely death led credence to the fact that we are only reeds in the hands of fate. It is more saddening that a mighty man like SPBK submitted to the complications of Coronavirus.

It is my prayer that the Almighty Allah grant him Aljanah Firdaus. Senator  Buruji Kashamu has left an indelible records in the sand of time. His name and what he stood for will continue to reverberate in the political  annals of Nigeria. 

As he would be committed to mother earth, I join other eminent Nigerians in commiserating with his immediate Family, political associates, entire Ijebu Igbo Community, the Ogun State Government and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His death was a devastating blow.
